University of Lynchburg – Westover Hall
90,000 SF
Westover Hall is Lynchburg’s newest dorm, which replaced the original McWane Hall. The design team analyzed the overall campus housing data and planned for phasing, temporary residences, and selective demolition of existing structures to create this multi-functional building.
This new residence hall is 4 stories and houses 268 students in semi-suite living spaces. Also housed in Westover Hall is the Westover Honors College, which contains faculty offices, classrooms and a unique living-learning environment for students. Student lounges throughout the building offer places for students to gather, fellowship or study in quiet areas. There are also lounges that have covered porches that look out onto Shellenberger Field for viewing athletic events or graduation activities. Each lounge has a small kitchen and dedicated toilet. The upper level has a roof top terrace that offers great views of the campus as well as a relaxing place for students and their families.
