The new Lynchburg Police Department Headquarters, at approximately 95,000 SF, is a three-story linear structure with a single-story wing at one end and a sallyport along the adjacent side. The facility is aligned on the axis parallel to Odd Fellows Road with the main public parking and public access facing Albert Lankford Drive. Staff access to the site is from the north and the associated driveway loop is adjacent to the neighboring property. The public entrance to the building is directly off the public plaza along the north side and is combined with the Community Room. A memorial garden is directly off the Community Room between the public entry and public parking area. The building structure includes reinforced concrete floor slabs and a metal deck with structural steel joists, steel beams, and a brick and metal panel façade on cold-formed steel framing. Insulated storefront glazing is required as well as an insulated building envelope and single-ply roofing membrane. A 72-hour backup generator for continuous operation during and after an event is provided. D7 is proud to serve under Architects Design Group (ADG) as the associate architect for this project.
